What is your passion in life? What are you passionate about? Recently, I found myself asking someone else this very same question. Oftentimes the questions you ask of others is flowing out of you because of something you’re pondering within yourself to some degree. I have pondered this question in a variety of ways.
If I am 110% here for the Lord, do I live my life in a way that reflects this? What am I passionate about and why? What kinds of things am I passionate about? Why has God put that desire or fire in my heart? And if indeed God has placed a particular desire in our hearts….why has He done so? All sorts of interesting questions that reveal the movement of God in your life in some small way, little by little.
The Lord is very purposeful. He does things with meaning. He does things for a reason. Just look at the created world around us. Everything exists for a purpose and one part somehow impacts and is interrelated with another. Amazing, isn’t it? It’s beautiful. And we, too, are a part of that story.
I have a particular passion for leadership. Not so much to be in a leadership position, but there is something about the principles of leadership that resonate in my heart. It’s been a growing fire of sorts. There’s something about the ability to impact the life of another in a way that brings out their potential, broadens horizons, challenges beyond comfort zones to a place of amazing growth, that leaves the world a better place and that speaks to me.
Everyone has the ability be a leader because everyone has the ability to influence and impact the life of another. It’s not just for those in leadership positions. If more and more of us lived life in this way, we would be fulfilling the Lord’s commandment to love our neighbor time and time again. That’s basically what it boils down to. Following Jesus in how He moved, guided, interacted, paying attention to what he did and didn’t do.
There’s something in all this that God is bringing to my attention. He is showing me by what resonates and doesn’t resonate in my own heart. Pay attention to the areas where you feel a fire is being lit in your heart. The fire in your heart has the potential to change yourself and all those around you. It’s an area where God is saying, “Pay attention. There’s something here that is important for you to see, to know and understand.” There’s something here that is somehow a part of your calling, your mission in life. It’s glorifying God in your unique way. It won’t always be clear, but if you continue day after day to move according to His promptings, one day you’ll look back, amazed at how God used you to be a light in this world.
What are you passionate about?
