Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them.
-Mark 14:10
Today is known as Spy Wednesday for it is believed that on this day of Holy Week, Judas agreed to betray the Lord for thirty pieces of silver.
No one loves me more than Jesus. My God, in whose mind I was first conceived, loves me so much that He became man so that I might again become like Him. God is love. So it is that Love, himself, was betrayed by Judas.
It is easy to look back across the mists of centuries and wag our fingers and cluck our tongues at Judas, the betrayer. Yet how many times have I also betrayed the Lord? By my choices, my thoughts, my words, and my deeds?
May the good God forgive me my sin, keep me from despair and lead me safely home, instilling in me a deep sense of gratitude and service.
Remember, you are dust, and to dust you will return. Repent and believe in the Gospel.
