“But wisdom is vindicated by her works.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
An Advent Reflection on the Scripture Readings at Mass[1]…
We all know the saying, “You can’t please everyone.” People complained about John the Baptist, criticizing his fasting. People criticized Jesus because his apostles did not fast. Seems it was hard for the Lord and his cousin to please anyone!
Saint Paul noted in 1 Corinthians that preaching Jesus Christ crucified is a stumbling block to the Jews and folly to the Gentiles.
Even today, Christians are accused of being out of touch with the times. Guilty as charged! The culture has it wrong. Jesus has it right. Do we want to curry favor with the culture or be approved by the Lord and transform the culture?
Come, Lord Jesus.
