This week’s poem in the Catholic Poetry Room is by Laurie Klein.

Invocation, Three Movements

Soul, take to the fields,
stroll among the wild lilies.
Step. Pause. Breathe. Repeat.

O such tender snares!
Inch toward the morning glories,
offer a bared sole.

At first light, sink down,
touch the dew, then your eyelids,
breastbone, throat. Now . . . speak.

Laurie Klein is the author of the poetry collection Where the Sky Opens (Poeima Poetry Series, Cascade), and an award-winning chapbook, Bodies of Water, Bodies of Flesh.
