A Daily Reflection on the Scripture Readings at Mass…

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. Look to yourselves, that you may not lose what you have worked for, but may win a full reward. Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the doctrine has both the Father and the Son. (2 John 1:7-9)

The influence of the culture of our day says, “I’ll go my way.” Jesus says, “Follow me.” Do you follow the Lord, or do you go your own way? John warns us in his second letter to take care not to lose the reward for our work, and also not to lose the free gift of salvation won for us by the Lord, for he writes, “Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God.” Do not be deceived by the strange and immoral teachings of our time, abide in the Lord’s teachings and you will abide in Him.
