Daily Reflection—The Joyful Christian

by Deacon Michael Bickerstaff | May 18, 2017 12:03 am

“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11).

In a world filled with so much turmoil and suffering, one might be excused for not being joyful, unless of course, that person is a Christian. St. Paul, in Galatians 5, identifies joy as a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

We all want to be good disciples of Jesus. We know that we are to be lights for Christ in this world. So we need to ask ourself: “When people see me, do they see a joyful witness of Christ’s love and gospel, or do they see a grump old, miserable person lacking in peace?”

We are too very deeply loved by the Lord. Now that is a cause for joy! Share that joy so that others will be attracted to the Lord.

Christ is risen!
