When Jesus said, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you,” He did not refer to His coming at the end of time and the Second Coming — He referred to the indwelling of God in the soul of each believer that takes place at our Baptism.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit prepare a dwelling place within you where they take up residence. This is a consequence of our rebirth in Baptism. We are not left on this earthly pilgrimage as orphans, but as sons and daughters of the Most High Who is always with us.

If we begin each day remembering this truth,  conforming our minds to this reality, we cannot help but have an entirely positive and charitable outlook. We will better understand who we are, where we have come from, and what we are to be about. Wherever we are and wherever we go, God is with us.

Remember, you are dust, and to dust you will return. Repent and believe in the Gospel.

Editor’s Note: Join us each morning during Lent for Daily Lenten Reflections.
