Have you ever been separated from the one you love? Losing loved ones to death is incredibly difficult. But there are also other separations short of death. Maybe you or your spouse travel extensively for work. There is a feeling that comes upon you of deep desire to be with your loved one. You look forward to their return. And when they have returned, you spend time with them and dread the next trip. This is normal, you want to be with the one you love… the one who complements and completes you. It is in spending time together that your knowledge of each other grows and love deepens. The same truth concerning human relationships pertains to our relationship with God.
We say we do, but do we really love God above all else? Then we should be praying before and above all else. That’s what you do when you love someone; you spend time in their company. Prayer is spending time with God. Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus going apart to spend time with the Father. If we want to love God more deeply, we will follow the example of Jesus and give priority to prayer.
Remember, you are dust, and to dust you will return. Repent and believe in the Gospel.
