O Sacred Head Now Wounded

by Deacon Michael Bickerstaff | April 22, 2011 12:01 am

Crucifix[1]On this Good Friday, 2011, we recall the Passion and Death of Our Lord.  The supreme act of love that began with the Incarnation is now made complete on that first Good Friday when our God suffered his Passion and Death on the Cross.  The glorious Resurrection and Ascension and the sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost were still to come, but the love of God for mankind is now manifest in this singular act of sacrifice.

We adore Thee O Christ, and we praise Thee. Because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Join me in prayer… In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… Who am I Lord, to deserve such love? Forgive me Lord. Create in me a new heart. Grant that I may love as you love. Grant that I may become worthy of so great a love. May I see you in all who you place in my path and may they see you in me. Amen.

Into the deep…
