Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that as the owner of a publishing company I should be “on top” of all new media, technology and marketing opportunities.  However, I’m also old.  Yeah, that’s how I feel.  Not old in a bad way but old in a good way — there is such a thing!

facebookI don’t mind not being connected all over the Internet and feel quite proud when, about once a month, I get a new LinkedIn contact.  I figure I may be on the very outer rim of today’s technological world but the rim is better than nothing.  Am I right?

Apparently not.

I still can’t quite get up an interest in tweeting or in believing that anyone’s tweets are worth following but I keep being told that I have to make use of this bold new world in order to market my books.

I moan and groan and eventually I will come around, I am sure.  After all, the books I publish are worth knowing about; but I still worry how everyone finds the time to do all their reading of blogs, and listening to podcasts, and reading and writing tweets and still take care of life.  Or still are able to read an actual book!

Maybe I am old in the bad sense.  Who knows?

Anyhow, while I am not quite ready to begin my own FB (that’s apparently the way FaceBook is referred to in writing) — well I actually tried setting up an account this morning but a few clicks on links took me to some worrisome posts that prompted to discontinue my efforts at this point in time — I have had someone lovingly offer to bring me kicking and screaming into the Facebook frenzy.  She’s set up a FB page for the boy’s book that I published, All Things Guy: A Guide to Becoming a Man that Matters, and apparently I can invite you, a total stranger, to be my friend!

Since this is for my own good, I do hope you’ll visit our FB page!
